Hanging weight is the weight of the animal before it is processed into steaks, ground beef, roasts, etc. This will be more than what you actually take home with you. When the animal is processed, fat, bone, and other waste is taken off to make the various cuts of beef. Therefore, when the meat is packaged and boxed, it will weigh less than it did when it was hanging.

For example, a quarter that is 200lbs in hanging weight will be approximately 120lbs in take-home weight, when you pick up your beef. You can maximize your take-home weight by ordering soup bones or dog bones, for example - items
that are normally discarded.

The exact price for a quarter, half, whole is based on hanging weight and cannot be determined until the animal is processed.

  • Quarter Estimate: $950- $1250

  • Half Estimate: $1900- $2500

  • Whole Estimate: $3800-$5000
